My Journey Through Spiritual Burnout: A Personal Experience
If you had asked me a few years ago if I could ever experience spiritual burnout, I would have confidently said, “No way!” I mean, I was on this path of personal growth, helping others heal, and living my purpose. I thought I was unstoppable. But let me tell you, burnout doesn’t care how much you meditate, how many healing sessions you’ve had, or how much you’ve worked on your personal growth.
There was a time when I found myself constantly giving, always putting others first, and forgetting to check in with myself. As a life coach, Reiki healer, and business owner, I was so focused on helping others that I lost touch with my needs. My days were filled with back-to-back sessions, preparing content, creating programs, and doing everything possible to show up for my clients and community. But little by little, I started to feel… drained.
At first, I didn’t recognize the signs. I thought I was just tired or overworked. But soon, it became clear: I was emotionally exhausted. I had moments when I felt disconnected from the work I loved. The Reiki sessions that used to fill me with energy now felt like an obligation. Meditation, which had always been my escape, started to feel like another task on my to-do list. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was experiencing spiritual burnout.
One of the hardest things was realizing that I wasn’t practicing what I was preaching. Here I was, teaching others about self-care, balance, and healing, while I was running on empty. I was so focused on doing everything for others, I forgot to nurture my own spirit.
It wasn’t until I started to feel resentful toward the very work I loved that I knew something had to change. That’s when I decided to take a step back. I took a break, which was incredibly difficult for me because I felt guilty. I worried about what my clients would think, or if they’d think I was “failing.” But I had to remind myself that rest is part of the healing process — for everyone, including me.
During my break, I took the time to reconnect with myself, my purpose, and the reason why I started this journey in the first place. I didn’t rush to get back to work; instead, I allowed myself to just be. I spent time meditating, journaling, and reflecting on my life. Slowly, I began to feel my energy return. I realized I needed to stop overloading myself and instead, focus on quality over quantity in everything I did.
What helped me the most was setting boundaries. I started saying no when things didn’t feel right, and I prioritized my own well-being. I reconnected with the simple, quiet practices that always brought me peace. I learned that it’s okay to slow down, and that healing happens in waves — sometimes you need to rest before you can give again.
Now, looking back on that experience, I realize that burnout wasn’t a sign of failure, but rather an invitation to pause and reassess. It taught me to honor my energy, to listen to my body, and to find a balance between giving and receiving. It’s okay to step back when you need to, and it’s okay to take care of yourself first.
I still love what I do, but now I know that I can’t serve others if I don’t serve myself first. This experience has made me a better coach, a better healer, and a better person. It’s all part of the journey, and I’m grateful for it.
If you’re feeling burnt out right now, know that you’re not alone. It happens to all of us. But remember, your energy is precious. Take the time to recharge, reconnect, and come back stronger. Your well-being matters — always.
Spiritual Burnout: Understanding and Healing the Overwhelm
Spiritual burnout is a term many of us are becoming more familiar with, especially in today’s fast-paced, ever-demanding world. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle of growth, self-improvement, and spiritual practices, but what happens when the constant push toward enlightenment and healing starts to take a toll on our well-being? That’s when spiritual burnout can creep in.
What is Spiritual Burnout?
Spiritual burnout occurs when the pursuit of spiritual growth, service to others, or personal development becomes overwhelming and draining. It’s not uncommon for individuals deeply involved in healing practices, energy work, or coaching to hit a point where the energy they are giving out far exceeds what they’re replenishing. This can lead to emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion, and in the worst cases, can cause a disconnect from your spiritual self.
Signs You May Be Experiencing Spiritual Burnout
Constant Fatigue: Feeling mentally and physically drained, even after hours of rest, is a major red flag. The energy you’re putting into your practice or work may not be fueling you back in the way you need it.
Loss of Connection: One of the hardest parts about spiritual burnout is that it can make you feel disconnected from your higher self, your guides, or even the universe. The practices that once brought peace and joy now feel like a chore.
Emotional Numbness: If you’re finding it difficult to feel the things you once felt deeply — whether it’s love, gratitude, or compassion — you might be in burnout. The emotional exhaustion can be draining, leaving you feeling emotionally flat.
Frustration and Resentment: When you give so much, you can begin to feel resentful or frustrated that you’re not receiving enough in return. Whether it’s from your clients, family, or the universe, this sense of imbalance can lead to negative emotions.
Decreased Passion for Your Work: If your spiritual practice or business that once lit you up starts to feel more like a heavy weight, you might be dealing with burnout. The passion that once fueled your work is now a distant memory.
How to Heal Spiritual Burnout
Take a Step Back: Sometimes, the best way to heal is to give yourself permission to rest. Step away from your practice or business for a little while. It might feel uncomfortable at first, but it’s essential to let your energy recharge.
Reconnect with Your Why: Reflect on why you started your spiritual practice or business in the first place. Was it for healing, service, or personal growth? Reconnect with your purpose to reignite your passion and drive.
Set Boundaries: Learn to say no when you’re overextended. Whether it’s taking on too many clients, saying yes to things you don’t enjoy, or neglecting self-care, creating boundaries is vital to maintaining your spiritual health.
Practice Self-Care: Spiritual work requires emotional and mental energy, so don’t forget about your physical health. Ensure you are eating well, getting enough sleep, and doing things that nourish you outside of your work. Your body is your vessel — take care of it!
Seek Support: Sometimes, the journey feels too heavy to carry alone. Don’t hesitate to reach out to other healers, coaches, or a mentor who can offer perspective, guidance, and support. Healing happens in the community.
Return to Simple Practices: When you’re in burnout, complex rituals, and demanding schedules can feel like an extra burden. Return to basic, simple practices like quiet meditation, grounding exercises, or gratitude journaling to restore your energy.
Moving Forward with Ease
Spiritual burnout doesn’t mean that you’ve failed or that your path isn’t right for you. It’s a natural part of the journey, especially for those of us who give a lot of our energy to others. Remember that healing is a continuous process, and sometimes you need to rest and replenish to continue doing the work you love.
Incorporating periods of rest, reflection, and rejuvenation is just as important as the work itself. By practicing balance and nurturing yourself, you can return to your practice with renewed energy, love, and a deeper connection to your spiritual path.
How My Healing and Spiritual Practice Program Helped Me Overcome Spiritual Burnout — And How It’s Helping My Clients and Students
A while back, I found myself caught in the whirlwind of giving too much — too much energy, too much of myself, and not enough time for my own healing. I realized I had to find a way to not only heal others but also nurture my own spirit. That’s when I decided to create a program that focused on balance, self-care, and spiritual growth in a way that would be sustainable, for me and for those I serve.
I wanted to build a program that wasn’t just about quick fixes or superficial solutions. I wanted something that would truly help us, as healers, coaches, and students, reconnect with our inner power while preventing burnout. And that’s how my Healing and Spiritual Practice Program came to life.
This program was born out of my own personal experience with burnout. I knew what it felt like to be exhausted, to feel disconnected, and to lose the passion I once had for my work. I needed a way to realign with my purpose, replenish my energy, and continue serving without feeling depleted. So, I created a system that focused on mindful practices, personal growth, grounding techniques, and the importance of self-care.
The core of the program is about learning how to balance giving with receiving — how to recharge your own spirit while staying in alignment with your spiritual practice. It teaches you how to honor your energy, build boundaries, and reconnect with your deepest purpose, all while maintaining a healthy, sustainable pace in your personal and professional life.
How It’s Helped Me
I’ll be honest — creating this program was just as healing for me as it has been for my students and clients. It reminded me to take time for myself, to slow down when needed, and to trust that everything will flow in its own time. The teachings and practices within this program have been a lifesaver in helping me manage my own energy and avoid burnout.
The program includes techniques I use daily — like grounding exercises, meditation, and energy work — that have brought me back to center and made me feel more connected to my purpose. By consistently practicing these methods, I’ve been able to maintain a balanced energy flow, which has helped me show up more fully for my clients, my business, and my own spiritual journey.
How It’s Helping My Clients and Students
The feedback I’ve received from my clients and students has been incredibly fulfilling. Many of them were struggling with their own burnout, feeling disconnected from their spiritual practices, or overwhelmed by the demands of life. This program has been a game-changer for them, too. It’s given them the tools they need to reclaim their energy and passion, and the space to grow at their own pace.
Here’s a couple of testimonials from my amazing students and clients:
Sarah L. (Reiki Practitioner):
“I had been feeling burnt out for months, and I didn’t know what to do. I was giving so much in my sessions that I had nothing left for myself. Jenny’s program helped me realize that self-care isn’t selfish — it’s necessary. This program has been a total life-saver!”
Michael R. (Life Coach):

Jenny’s Healing and Spiritual Practice Program gave me the tools to protect my energy and find the peace I was missing. I’m no longer afraid of burning out — I feel more balanced than ever!”
Elena P. (Business Owner):
“Jenny’s program has been an absolute gift. I was at a point where I was considering walking away from my business because the burnout was so overwhelming. This program helped me create healthier boundaries and showed me how to infuse my spiritual practices into my daily life without draining myself.
